GSW History
Gordon, Stockman, & Waugh, P.C. (GSW) acquired the accounting practice from Gordon & Sweetland, P.C. (G&S) in January 2004. Prior to that, the history of the firm goes back to the 1940’s. GSW has continued to provide a broad range of accounting, auditing, management consulting, and income tax planning and compliance services to mid-sized businesses. The principals of GSW have over 70 years of combined experience practicing public accounting. Our Company is focused on delivering a cost-effective, high quality and timely service. We will utilize a variety of microcomputer accounting programs, which allows us to import information, which is then directly linked to the financial statement and income tax returns thus eliminating the need to manually reenter the information. Our firm was recently involved in the Peer Review process in accordance the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants for which we received a clean opinion.
Steve Stockman, CPA
Steve has over 25 years of significant public accounting experience since graduating from Illinois State University. Steve has served as the client service coordinator on a large number of engagements. In addition to traditional accounting and tax, Steve works with clients to determine the factors that drive profitability and value in their businesses. Steve also has a diversified background including experience with manufacturing, contractors, and service companies.
Matt Waugh, CPA, CVA
Matt is a Certified Public Accountant and tax specialist. Matt received his undergraduate degree from Bradley University and his Masters in Taxation from DePaul University. Matt has worked exclusively in the tax reporting and planning area for over 30 years. Matt is a certified valuation analyst and a member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. Matt’s experience includes federal and state tax compliance, employee benefits, estate and trust tax compliance and planning, and pension plans.
Mark Schmitt, CPA
Mark provides tax, accounting and advisory services to individuals and business clients. Mark is also involved in the training and mentoring of staff. He began working at Gordon, Stockman and Waugh P.C. in 2005 and became an owner in 2007. Mark graduated from the University of Missouri St. Louis with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Andrew Ryon, CPA
Andrew provides Audit and Assurance services, specializing in the construction, governmental, and non-profit industries. Andrew began his career with Gordon, Stockman and Waugh in 2005 and became an owner in 2013. Andrew graduated from the University of Iowa in 2005.
